The Uashat Reserve, located at the western limit of Sept-Ïles, covers a surface area of 1.08 km2 and is enclosed within this city. The Maliotenam Reserve is located 16 km to the east of Sept-Ïles and covers an area of 5.02 km2. |

Characteristics: |
The communities of Uashat-Maliotenam and Matimekosh-Lac-John are part of the Ashuanipi Corporation, which has represented them in the comprehensive territorial negotiations since 2006. Sixty-five percent (65%) of the population is under 35 years of age. The community has numerous stores and a growing number of certified workers. It also has signed an agreement with Hydro-Québec for the hydroelectric development of the Sainte-Marguerite river. |

In addition to the basic infrastructures and services, the community has a home for seniors, an outdoor theatre, sports facilities, an accommodation facility for young people, a shopping centre and a museum. |
