Appointment
The Government of Québec is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Germain Simard to the position of regional delegate for Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean within the context of the comprehensive territorial negotiations with the Innu communities of the Mamuitun Tribal Council and Natashkuan.
In his capacity as regional delegate, Mr. Simard will have to make sure that the information coming from the negotiating table is conveyed to the population of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. He will also have to find out the concerns and proposals of citizens regarding the negotiations in order to convey and put them forward to Mr. Benoît Bouchard, representative of the regions.
Mr. Simard, an agricultural and sylvicultural producer, has invested a great deal of time and effort in his community over the last thirty years. From 1983 to 1990, he was president of the Fédération de l'Union des producteurs agricoles and since 1995, he has sat on the board of directors of Farm Credit Canada. Through his participation in various initiatives, Mr. Simard has contributed to the economic and tourism development of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region.
